The Tibetan brown bear being the yeti adds up, especially when you consider accounts that describe yetis killing yaks with one blow that breaks the yak's neck, or tearing them apart with claws (something no primate posses). I also heard at least one account by a native villager that describes the yeti as dark in color with a "white face" akin to one of these bears.
